- Sandstone patio and raised beds. Riven Indian sandstone laid in a random pattern, finished with a brick raised bed, steps and drainage along the house.
- Porcelain patio with zinc cladding. Grey porcelain laid tight to a zinc clad extension with a channel drain along the sliders.

What foundations are required for a porcelain patio?
Porcelain needs a full mortar bed over a properly compacted sub base, with primer on each slab and correct falls so water runs away from the house. Laid any other way it lifts and rocks within a couple of seasons.
Do you install channel drainage with patios and driveways?
Yes, wherever paving meets the house or a threshold. Good drainage is the difference between a patio that lasts and one that causes damp problems.
